Physical Therapy: Physical Therapy focuses on a child's basic movement, balance and coordination skills. Our physical therapists design individualized programs to develop and improve a child's motion, strength, balance, mobility and movement skills.

Occupational Therapy: Occupational Therapy helps a child develop the fine motor skills needed for activities in daily life such as playing with toys, writing and cutting with scissors. Licensed therapist also teach adapted techniques and use of adaptive equipment to accomplish everyday tasks such as eating with utensils and dressing oneself.

Speech-Language Therapy: Speech-Language Therapy focuses on treating a variety of speech-language delays, articulation and hearing loss, stuttering, voice disorders and feeding/swallowing difficulties.

Preschool: The Children's Development Center's preschool is open to all children in the community. It is one of a few preschool based on "reverse mainstreaming", providing an opportunity for typical children and those with disabilities to understand, accept and value human diversity through inclusive classrooms in a year-round setting.

Autism Classroom: A program designed for children with autism and/or autism spectrum disorders beginning at two years of age:

Handwriting Program:  Summer program offered to assist children with poor handwriting who struggle in other areas including spelling and math due to letter and number reversals.  Several sessions are available.  Call 326-0565, extension 101 for more information.  (Or…could we add a flyer that I’ve already produced in MS Publisher to the website and put a link here to it?  I also have an information form as well as intake and HIPAA forms that could be downloaded and completed)

Listening Program: Therapeutic Listening is an expansion of Sensory Integration.  It is an auditory intervention that uses the organized sound patterns in music to impact all levels of the nervous system.

TeenLink: TeenLink is a program that is designed to provide high school students with disabilities the opportunity to develop the necessary independent living skills to successfully make the move from school to independent living.  The TeenLink program has several components designed to prepare the students for the demands of adult life and help them reach their highest level of independence. 

Case Management Services:  The Children’s Development Center case manager is available to assist and advise parents with all aspects of our program.  Questions and concerns about enrollment, fees, transportation, health concerns, available therapies and psychological testing, should be directed to the case manager.  In addition, referrals can be made through the case manager to the other community resources and services.  Most importantly, the case manager is always ready to listen to any concerns you may have about your preschooler and your family.

Loan Equipment Program:  The Children’s Development Center has a large variety of specialized orthopedic equipment available for trial or loan.  Equipment ranges from crutches and walkers to positioning equipment, wheelchairs, standers, etc.  Please contact us at 326-0565 to learn if we can help meet a need for your family.

Aquatherapy:  There are times when warm water can be a beneficial adjunct to physical therapy.  In those instances, our physical therapists, in conjunction with the YWCA’s warm water pool, are able provide therapy at the YWCA.

Summer OT Camps:  “Sizzlin’ Summer Fun,” is designed to provide children with the opportunity for group activities encouraging teamwork and creative self-expression in a supervised, therapeutic environment.  For the past eight years, CDC has provided a summer program for school-age children.  This program has been directed toward children receiving Occupational Therapy in school during the school year who would have the tendency to regress or “lose ground” over the long summer break.  The program is directed by Occupational Therapy professionals and utilizes a number of teenage volunteers. 

TeenLink Summer Building Blocks to Independence: is a six week “camp” for students ages 14-21 who could benefit from training in domestic skills, social/personal skills, time management, recreational and vocational skills.  The program will begin July 8, 2008 and will be held for six consecutive weeks on Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 P.M. to 3:30 P.M. at the TeenLink House, 1304 Weaver Street, Montoursville, PA  The cost is $50.00 per week or $200.00 for the six week camp.  Please contact the Children’s Development Center for more information at 326-0565, extension 101.

Women's, Infants and Children (WIC): The Children's Development Center has contracted services with the Pennsylvania Department of Health for the administration of Women's, Infants and Children (WIC) Bi-County Program. WIC has significantly reduces health and dietary problems by providing food and nutrition information for: pregnant women, mothers breastfeeding their babies, mothers who have given birth within the last six months and children under five years of age.
